Active Day medical adult day care centers offer a diabetes care program that takes a proactive approach to managing symptoms and preventing complications.

A primary aspect of our care plan for clients with diabetes is helping them to maintain blood glucose at near-normal levels. Our staff help diabetic clients control blood glucose levels by:

• Performing or providing assistance with glucose testing
• Evaluating self-monitoring techniques
• Administering oral medications and insulin as needed
• Providing a structured environment
• Reinforcing the importance of diet, exercise and medication
• Providing nutritionally balanced meals and snacks that are low in salt, fat and sugar
• Encouraging the client to engage in physical activity
• Observing the client for signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia
• Identifying other potential complications
